GP and GI galvanised coils and sheets
GP is cold rolled steel run through a bath of molten zinc. The zinc coat protects the steel from rust, and keeps protecting it even where it's scratched. The heavier the coating (the Z number, in grams per square metre), the longer it lasts outdoors.
Also called: Galvanised iron (GI), GI coil, GI sheet, Galvanised plain, Hot-dip galvanised steel
